Natureland Singapore Review
My friend had told me there was a walk-in massage spa nearby, but I didn’t expect it to be this good. Natureland is one of the largest chains of massage therapy in Singapore. I visited the same centre 4 times experiencing Foot Reflexology, deep tissue and Slimming Massage (which I thought might be lymphatic drainage but wasn’t really… more on that in a bit). The staff had skilled hands, especially those performing foot Reflexology and the centre was clean, hygienic, professionally run and even included soft lighting with calming decor (we all know that’s important to me hehe).
Within 24hrs of landing I was reclining in a large comfy arm chair, while Oscar (he was my therapist twice by chance) used predominately his knuckles to knead out the fatigue and puffiness from my feet and lower legs. I was impressed with how well the staff were trained and of their awareness of the body. That said, it would’ve been nice post Foot Reflexology to get some feedback from the therapist about their findings, nonetheless I eagerly searched reflexology charts afterwards online noting the areas that were most painful during the treatment and came to my own conclusions.
After consecutive yoga classes that were arm balance dominant, I decided a 30min session focusing on my arms and wrists was just what I needed. The therapist used a range of remedial, deep tissue as well as stretching techniques that felt similar to some Thai massage stretching I’ve experienced before. And you know what… my wrists were much happier afterwards. It was a healing success :)
The evening prior to my departure was my final appointment. As the Slimming Massage started I pondered asking the therapist if she was performing the correct treatment because it wasn’t at all what I was anticipating, but I decided not to and left it in her hands, settled my mind and dropped further into my body. In between dozing off, it felt she was using fast and firm deep tissue techniques, in an upward motion to increase blood flow, move lymph and rid knots and tension. She also used some effleurage and kneading to contour my waist, abdomen and glutes. To rid fluid in the lymphatic massages I perform, I usually activate the body’s main lymph nodes and focus on the chest and neck (due to 1/3 of the nodes being located in the neck). Because I felt this was missing I quickly performed this as I jumped off the massage table and it made me realise why my Remedial and Lymphatic 90min treatment is so popular. I felt a release, like I was standing taller and feeling calm and energised at the same time.
Overall I had a great experience across the four visits and I’ll be back at Natureland when I’m next in Singapore.
