How to stay hydrated this Winter

Tahlia’s tips for staying hydrated this Winter

The cooler weather generally means we are less likely to take our drink bottle with us throughout the day, but our hydration requirements change very little across each season of the year, so this means it’s just as important for us to keep our fluids up.

One of my most favourite ways to stay hydrated in winter is with herbal tea! Yes! This counts towards your water intake and is such an easy way to amplify the therapeutic benefits too. If you’re not a fan of herbal tea, then I recommend consuming warm water. Warm water in Ayurvedic Medicine is a powerful way to strengthen the body’s internal fire to support energy, vitality and digestion. Swapping from cold to warm water is a really simple way to help with reducing bloating too!

Some of my favourite hydrating winter foods include anything citrus, oranges, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin. These can be juiced, added to your water bottle throughout the day or even blitzed and made into immune boosting gelatin gummies. Let us know if you’d like the recipe!

Water infusions are also a fun way to make your water more exciting! I’ve shared some of my favourite combos below

⁃ cucumber + lime

⁃ grapefruit + blueberries

⁃ peach + basil

⁃ strawberries + blackberries

⁃ orange, lemon, lime

⁃ strawberry + kiwifruit

⁃ apple + cinnamon sticks

⁃ mint + lime

⁃ pear + fresh ginger slices
